Launched in 1972 it was the first luxury Steel watch ever made by Audemars Piguet, and the most expensive one.
Designed by Gerald Genta, the 39 mm monobloc case is characterized by its octagonal shape Bezel with White Gold Screws. Definitely, a very futuristic design, but extremely successful. The ref. 5402 has been produced in four series. A series (as the present watch), B -C and D with a total production of about only 6.000 pieces during 25 years of production.
Preserved in unpolished condition, but enjoyed being worn, the original AP down logo dial is showing a beautiful Bronze ‘Tropical’ patina.
