With the increasing request for wrist watches to the detriment of pocket watches, the 1930/1940s were years of great experimentation in terms of design and technical innovation.
Cartier was experimenting new designs, including The Cartier ‘Timone’, a nickname due its resemblance to a ship’s helm. Produced in limited numbers in various sizes, with the 29*34 mm of the present watch being the largest furthermore.
The watch has been published on ‘White Cartier Bianco’ by Osvaldo Patrizzi, an historical book for every avid Cartier enthusiast.
