The Rolex GMT, with the ref. 6542, has been the first two time zone ever produced by Rolex. Characterized by the additional fourth hand and by the rotating Bakelite Bezel, it was possible to set two time zones on a single watch. Due to the fragility of the Bakelite, the insert was later replaced with an acrylic one with the ref. 1675. To find today an intact original bezel as in the present watch is extremely rare.
Produced in 1957, the watch remains in exceptional overall condition, showing the care which has been used with it. The Dial with White Graphics and Light Yellow tone, nicknamed ‘Albino’ has been rarely seen, usually cased in stainless steel. Gold 6542 are extraordinary rare.
